Late-Night Shopping

Online Christmas shopping is convenient, but it's a lot more fun to go out and support your local businesses. If you like having a real-life local toy store, then you should go there and buys some stuff to help keep them around. Local businesses can't survive without us.

A lot of neighborhoods are getting together Christmas shopping events. The first one I heard about is the one happening in Inman Square on December 14th, from 7pm to Midnight.

Here is a map of the event. Click on the Places in the side bar to see the special offers and fun stuff some of them are doing. These events are also listed on the Inman Square website.

There will be theater performances by Boston Improv, carolling, free hot cider from East Coast Grill, and best of all, free soaks in the Urban Oasis hot tubs (bring your swimsuits!)

Central Square is also having a shopping event, until 10 pm, on Tuesday the 12th. I put together a map of their event, with all the special offers listed on it. You can also visit the Central Square website.

The neat thing about the Central Square event is that each participating business is donating a portion of their proceeds to a variety of charities including Boston Area Rape Crisis Center, Cambridge Cares About AIDS, Cambridge Family YMCA, Cambridge YWCA, CASPAR, Child Care Resource Center, Food for Free, Hildebrand Family Self-Help Center, and the Salvation Army
